Well, I’d like to prepare some salts In a test tube and under fume hood

Yes, I’d like to prepare some salts

But I don’t think I’d like to eat them

Though I’d like to look down at the salts from outside

They might have some toxic polyatomic ions

So although I might like to do chemistry

I don’t want to eat them with fries

I’d like to make calcium carbonate

They are found in my bone and my teeth

Yes, I’d like to make carbonates

They can form beautiful minerals

I might keep them a few days if I had my wish

But there’s not much to do once they form a solid

And transition ions make better colors

So I don’t want to keep them too long.
